Vacation spots near Nashville, Tennessee?

I live in Nashville and am taking a vacation with my boyfriend at the end of July. We would like to go somewhere within 4 or less hours of Nashville. We were thinking maybe Gatlinburg or Louisville, but what is there to do there? Anybody have any suggestions other than those two?
