Make wavy hair by plaiting it and leaving it overnight?

I do that and then in the morning i take the braid apart by combing it with my fingers, becasue the brush makes the hair looks frizzy after, but sometimes even when fingerbrushing, my hair turns frizzy. Why? and what can i do to prevent it?
