Is Tampa, FL a safe place to visit?

Hi, me and my 2 sisters will be traveling to Tampa for our first time in July. We will be going to Busch Gardens/Adventure Island and we have been looking at this hotel online located 701 E. Fletcher Av. It's called Days Inn- North of Busch Gardens. We were wondering if its a good hotel to stay at? Also, is Tampa a safe place to visit? Since this is our first time, we would wanna be in a safe area with no problems. In addition, what is the area like and are there a lot of things to do in the Tampa area? Were from Georgia and were excited to take this trip. We will be there Thursday-Sunday. Looking forward to hearing your responses!
