How to apply olive oil on hair?

My hair is wavy and frizzy and I had read on the Internet that olive oil works great on hair. But I dont know how long to leave it on and I also dont know if I should apply it before I take a shower or after. Please can someone help me and give the steps one by one. Thanks : )
