Best route from New Jersey to Nashville, TN?

My husband and I (and 2 yr old) are going to Nashville for the 4th of July weekend. We are driving from NJ. Can someone tell me if there is anything on the way worth stopped to see? Best route or any information would be great. Restaurants...things to do...etc? Thanks!
